Position Summary:
This position manages and executes on the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource functions for the organization. This includes managing the recruitment, onboarding, benefits, wellness, leaves, compensation, performance management, employee relations, HRIS systems, and HR analytics processes for the organization, ensuring they continue to be in sync with our company culture and support our business objectives. This position champions and supports our team members and leaders providing expertise and guidance in a full range of Human Resource services to create, maintain or enhance a productive and engaged workforce.
Essential Functions of this Position:
- Manages the recruiting process for the organization. Regularly reviews the overall recruiting process for attracting, recruiting, and securing new team and recommends and implements changes as needed to develop a steady pool of qualified applicants to meet the organization’s growing needs. Partners with management to understand their recruiting needs and co-creates a recruiting plan with them. Sources and screens employment candidates, and partners with leadership in selecting and hiring candidates.
- Manages the overall onboarding process ensuring team members are acclimated to both the technical and culture aspects of their job and the organization.
- Manages and provides oversight to benefit administration for three classes of employees, including but not limited to medical, dental, life, disability and 401K. Actively participates in the annual benefits renewal process and manages the open enrollment process.
- Conducts investigations when team member complaints or concerns are brought forth. Reviews and guides management recommendations for employment terminations.
- Partners closely with Chief Human Resources Officer and provides input and assists with executing on the strategy for the department and function.
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of HR databases and recordkeeping systems. Partners with Finance on the selection, upgrades, and maintenance of the HRIS system.
- Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits. Provides guidance on the development and implementation of HR policies, processes and tools. Manages the DOT Drug and Alcohol Program. Oversees the Workers Compensation program in coordination with the Safety Manager.
- Provides direction to the team responsible for Human Resources; collaboratively sets goals and expectations; provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to ensuring continued development of team members. Celebrates success, and provides constructive feedback.
- Manages departmental budgeting and expenses.
- Leads the performance management process for the organization, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organization. Provides guidance and recommendations to managers to optimize their team members’ performance, supporting their coaching, counseling and disciplinary efforts as needed while also establishing a positive employer-employee relationship and promoting a high level of team member morale and motivation.
- Builds and fosters strong relationships and collaboration between HR and DART’s other departments, leadership, and team members.
- Manages the development and distribution of all HR communication processes and materials. Partners closely with the Marketing and Communications team on internal communications and external efforts that impact our employment and team member efforts.
Additional Responsibilities of this Position:
- Provides guidance and directions to managers around team member development and partners collaboratively with managers to ensure development needs are met.
- Manages the Company Wellness Committee, promoting effective health decisions among team members in the areas of physical, mental, nutritional, and financial wellness.
- Conducts periodic surveys to measure team member satisfaction and engagement.
- Critically analyzes existing HR programs, processes, and policies on an ongoing basis monitors best practices in all areas of Human Resources and recommends improvements.
- Maintains positive environment by actively supporting and promoting department and company objectives.
- Directs organization initiatives that support our community, including the United Way campaign.
- Advocates and champions others to resolve conflicts. Assists team members with understanding what assumptions they are making, the role they are playing, and coaches team members and management to have curious and candid conversations.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related discipline or equivalent work experience; Master’s Degree preferred
- 6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources positions. 2 years of management experience preferred. 2 years experience in a public organization preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
